Nice post :-)

One thing to note about &quot;routers&quot;, they are themselves derived from the &quot;pointer&quot; system that provides the vital intersection between the operating system and programming languages. 

We started this journey by moving data across data networks within  disconnected computers via the routing mechanism (pointers) offered by the host operating system. 

In recent times (Web era),  data network traversal is delivered via a HTTP based pointer system (de-referencable URIs).  

In the case of &quot;Linked Data&quot;, as implied by the meme boostrapped by TimBL, we have an effective moniker for distinguishing the vital &quot;data identification and routing&quot;  component of the Web&#039;s architecture from the generally misunderstood vision known as the &quot;Semantic Web&quot;. 


As Sun aptly noted (eons ago), the &quot;Network is the Computer&quot; :-)
